Note the cast in place colored concrete bathtub, lined on the bottom with a beautiful dark gray green tile.

“we will face the mountain,

not the city lights“ said Suzi Rosin, contrary to the norm.

This initial directive drove all the conceptual design efforts; living room & kitchen fronted the pool which interfaced with the mountain which was restrained with a concrete wall embedded with large aggregate (rocks) copied from the FLW school and topped by steel rods to keep the javelina’s from drowning!

My client had contracted MCS, multiple chemical sensitivities in Detroit. She decided to move to the desert and build a healthy new house.   We smell tested products and devised strategies.  We researched, innovated and designed a healthy modern home.    Suzi spent over a decade in this house teaching and dancing and living the good life, devoid of the symptoms that previously made her life miserable.

Kitchen and living room face the mountain and the well designed mountain pool, dark in plaster color and integrated with the retaining wall!  The embedded rock idea is a “steal” from Frank Lloyd Wright’s playbook.
