Tuesday Thursday House (Lot 23) Northside entry patio

The sun and the rain drove this design.  Controlling the sun and collecting the rain.  The North facade (above), quiet, cool and unassuming, is nothing like the south facade’s exuberant, sunny and expressive nature.

Neighboring the large iconic home above we strove for complementarity without slavish imitation.

Public commentary cites our house as the guest house to the other.

Besides the interesting sculptural aesthetics, the true value of this project is in its exemplar green role.  It combines precise sun controls with significant water management via a whole house potable rainwater collection system.  A grey-water recycling program, a solar hot water heater and future solar photovoltaics. Lastly the future food growing greenhouse will mitigate some heating and cooling loads as well.
